ADD/ADHD Treatment

Vinny’s Story

My son Vincenzo was born one month early, weighing 4 lbs. 5 oz, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. He was just over the weight cut-off and didn’t have to go to the NICU. As Vinny grew, he began to show symptoms of ADHD. He couldn’t sit still during the day, and would toss and turn, grinding his teeth almost constantly throughout the night. Within four sessions of neurofeedback therapy, Vinny had a complete turnaround. He calmed down, started sleeping through the night, and the teeth grinding stopped altogether! The turnaround was a miracle for our family. The changes to Vinny’s demeanor were immediate and profound. I often wonder how different the outcome would have been if he had just been placed on medications, as so many other children with ADHD in the US are.

ADHD in America

According to the CDC, an estimated 7 million (11.4%) U.S. children aged 3–17 years have been diagnosed with ADHD in the United States. Of the estimated 7 million children, approximately 3.4 MILLION children aged 3-17 are currently taking ADHD medication. That’s right, 5.6% of all children aged 3-17 in the United States are on some kind of medication as a result of an ADHD diagnosis!

How Neurofeedback Helped Vinny

Neurofeedback training is a non-invasive therapeutic technique that teaches individuals to regulate their brain activity through real-time feedback. For people with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), this method offers a powerful alternative to traditional treatments like medication and behavioral therapy. ADHD is characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, which are often linked to irregular EEG patterns (brain activity). This irregular activity is frequently present in the frontal regions responsible for focus, executive function, and emotional regulation.
