Anxiety/Panic Attacks Treatment

Anxiety and panic attacks originate from the brain’s stress response, affecting functioning, emotional well-being, and even your physical health. Racing thoughts, restlessness, muscle tension, rapid heartbeat, and intense fear, often occur without an apparent trigger, and are common in anxiety disorders. Neurofeedback training is a gentle, drug-free approach that helps individuals manage the symptoms by teaching the brain how to regulate its activity and maintain a more balanced, calm state. It’s like giving your brain a workout. Over time, you’ll strengthen your better-performing neural pathways, leading to a system that operates with less anxiety.

The Science

Neuroscience research has shown that individuals with anxiety often exhibit excessive high-frequency beta brainwaves, especially in the right hemisphere and areas of the brain associated with worry, fear, and vigilance. Patients with elevated magnitude of High-frequency beta waves (especially 23–38 Hz) are linked to hyperarousal and overthinking. In contrast, lower-frequency alpha and theta waves (associated with relaxation and calm) may be underactive. Understanding the role of the amygdala, a brain structure directly linked to the processing fear.  It is important in understanding the stress response as it relates to anxiety.  It may become overly reactive, triggering disproportionate responses to perceived threats, contributing to the experience of anxiety.
