Addiction and Recovery
As you may know from reading my story on this website, the topic of addiction and recovery is not just a professional interest, but a deeply personal one. I struggled with an addiction to alcohol for a good part of my life, and I have close friends who lost their lives to addiction as well. Substance abuse and addiction operate off patterns. Patterns we run in our lives, patterns we run in our relationships, but more importantly, patterns that run repeatedly in our brains. Neurofeedback can help break the negative neuronal patterns that have been established over time. One of the most potent aspects of neurofeedback is its ability to promote neuroplasticity—the brain’s capacity to rewire itself. Using simple operant conditioning strategies, we can open the door to new, better solutions for problems we once only solved with substance abuse. The Parker Group uses a comprehensive Functional Approach to solving the mystery of addiction. It all begins with a QEEG Brain Map and a series of in-depth Bio-psycho-social questionnaires to get to the root of what patterns are causing our issues. Once we understand the factors contributing to the addiction issues at hand, we will create a custom plan to help break the cycle. Through consistent sessions, individuals can strengthen new, healthier neural pathways and break free from entrenched, destructive patterns. Unlike medications, which can have side effects or dependency risks, neurofeedback is non-invasive and drug-free. This strategy works. I am a living testament to that fact!
